PILGRIMAGE TO THE SHRINE OF OUR LADY OF WALSINGHAM
Friday 25th April – Monday 28th April 2025 (Low Sunday weekend)
The act of pilgrimage has long been a way for Christians to engage in prayer, further their spiritual life and develop a deeper sense of God. I have attended and led weekend pilgrimages to Our Lady’s Shrine at Walsingham in the past and have found them to be immensely helpful. Sometimes I have felt an answer to prayer, other times received solace and comfort via the Holy Spirit.
The cost for each pilgrim is yet to be set for 2025 but will be around £250-£260 which is for full board. Depending on numbers we may look to have a minibus or coach. It would be a shame for price to be a barrier so if you are interested then we can look into some form of assistance or subsidy.
Some notes:
The journey, whilst to the East, is not the pilgrimage. There is a weekend programme which acts as a spiritual pilgrimage done alongside groups from other parishes and individuals. The Anglican Shrine provides accommodation and full board so we eat together.
There is time for peaceful rest and reflection, for walks to places run by our sister Churches (Roman Catholic and Orthodox), or for a visit to the Norfolk coast. There is a bar and some good neighbouring pubs. There is a good gin distillery up the road.
In the finest English tradition, a pilgrimage should be spiritually beneficial and joyous. Prayerful and social.
Whilst no claims of healing have been made, there are those who find the symbolism of the Sprinkling with blessed water from a well underneath the Shrine Church to be of comfort.
We are looking to make the booking in June so please do let Fr. David or one of the Church Wardens know if this is of interest. A £10 deposit is required to confirm a place. Offers of help with logistics and organisation gratefully received.
